You know how one day you wake up, look in the mirror and actually like what you see..
Then the next day, you look in the mirror and think, oh em gee what the hell happened & pick yourself apart? Like how did I even think I looked good yesterday, did I look like this yesterday?
Isn’t it so weird? Like, you’re the same person, you’re no different to the person you looked at yesterday, you just feel differently about what you see.
And its so shit how those thoughts dictate whether you go out and enjoy life that day, or hide away and just get through.
If there’s one thing I’ve noticed since taking control of my health & fitness its that these days, when I wake up, look in the mirror and don’t feel so great about what I see, I’m able to at least lift up my chin and say, ‘but at least I am doing the best I can to be the healthiest I can and that’s all I can ever do’.
I’ve also noticed now that, I do still wake up sometimes & not feel so great, but I also know that I was the same person I was when I looked in the mirror and felt good the day before. So the way I feel today is not a reflection on me, but simply the mood I’m in that day, & I am in control of how I feel.
This is what gets me through, helps me pick myself up and tell those thoughts to shut up so I can go about crushing my day:
Instead of constantly looking in the mirror for progress and picking apart my body, I stay mindful of focusing on ALL of the progress I am making; Things like:
- How great my energy levels are
- How mentally clear I feel
- How much better I’m sleeping
- How fit and strong I feel
And what I’ve noticed is that I am actually seeing faster progress now too, because remembering all of these things has stopped me ever wanting to self sabotage wen I’m having a bad day!
When you allow your fitness journey to become more than just what you see in the mirror, you appreciate your health and body so much more and you reach and maintain your goals so much faster.
